Fumaria purpurea is a large-flowered fumitory found patchily across the British Isles.

As with Fumaria capreolata, the flowers of F. purpurea become swept downwards soon after opening; unlike that species, the dark ‘wings’ of the upper petal conceal the green central ridge when seen from the side.
