Cytisus scoparius subsp. maritimus is a prostrate form found in coastal settings from the Lleyn Peninsula (VC49: Caernarvonshire) to Cornwall, around parts of the Republic of Ireland and on Rathlin Island (VCH39: Antrim); its stems are hairier than in inland specimens.
