Puccinellia rupestris is our only short-lived (annual or biennial) species of Puccinellia; it usually grows in rocky places from Cornwall to East Anglia and around the Tees estuary.

The inflorescence of Puccinellia rupestris is superficially similar to Catapodium rigidum subsp. majus, but has relatively broad membranous margins to the lemmas.
