Potamogeton berchtoldii has long, narrow, blunt-tipped submerged leaves with stipules that wrap round the stem and overlap at the edges.

Potamogeton berchtoldii grows in slow-flowing or still waters across the British Isles; in brackish waters it is usually replaced by Potamogeton pusillus.
