The leaves of Leontodon hispidus have a dense covering of white hairs, most of which are forked at the tip.

The achenes of Leontodon hispidum are not ribbed or beaked; they all have two rows of hairs, 1 feathery and 1 simple (unlike Leontodon saxatilis, in which the outermost flowers produce hairless achenes).
