Campanula rotundifolia exists in the British Isles as two subspecies; the tetraploid C. rotundifolia subsp. rotundifolia has narrow, pointed stem-leaves and several smallish flowers per stem.

Campanula rotundifolia subsp. montana is a hexaploid upland race, with broader, less pointed stem-leaves and fewer, larger flowers than the lowland race.
