Atriplex praecox can be found just above the intertidal zone on the west coast of Scotland, in Shetland, in Northumberland, and a few sites in Ireland and Wales.

The lower leaves of Atriplex praecox are cuneate with a pair of basal lobes; its bracteoles are sessile, with a truncate base.
