Rumex rupestris grows in damp, sandy or rocky coastal sites in south-western England and a few sites in Wales; its leaves are long and narrow, and slightly undulating along the margins.

The tepals of Rumex rupestris are fairly small, at least in comparison to the large, swollen tubercle on each.
