Cochlearia danica differs from the Cochlearia officinalis aggregate (C. officinalis, C. pyrenaica and C. micacea) in that its upper leaves are usually petiolate.

As well as its native, coastal habitat, Cochlearia danica is also common inland along roads that are treated with salt in winter.
