The flowers of Actaea spicata consist of a few petal-like sepals, up to 6 petals (often none), one carpel and several stamens.

Within the British Isles, Actaea spicata only grows in limestone pavements and open woodlands in the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Lower Wharfedale.
