Arabis alpina is a widespread Arctic–Alpine plant, but is restricted in the British Isles to friable and barely accessible slopes on the Black Cuillin of the Isle of Skye.

Arabis alpina has clasping stem-leaves and almost sessile basal leaves, and can form extensive mats with its stolons.
