Capsella rubella is a rare (but often overlooked) diploid relative of the very common tetraploid Capsella bursa-pastoris.

Capsella rubella differs from Capsella bursa-pastoris in its reddish sepals, scarcely shorter than the petals, and the concave edges to its seed-pods.
